On November 16, the Commissioner of Police, acting in his role as the State Coordinator responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, announced the Emergency Management (Education and Early Childhood Settings Vaccination) (COVID-19) Direction 2021.
Under this Direction, COVID-19 vaccinations will be mandatory for all people who work or volunteer at Le Fevre Peninsula Primary School, except those who have a medical exemption endorsed by the Chief Public Health Officer. This includes:
- All of our staff and contractors
- Anyone who visits our schools/preschool/children’s centre for work purposes
- Our Governing Council members
- All volunteers and parent helpers (people who assist with reading, camps, excursions, canteen, fundraising etc).
Under this Direction, all of the above-mentioned people must receive at least 1 dose of a Therapeutic Goods Association (TGA) approved COVID-19 vaccination and a booking to receive a second dose by 11.59pm on 10 December 2021, which is the last day of term.
The Direction does not apply to students, parents dropping off or picking up children, attending parent teacher interviews, events or similar, as long as they are not working or volunteering at the event and COVID safe measures are followed.
More information about the Direction is available on The Department for Education website: education.sa.gov.au
Our number one priority is providing a safe environment for our students and for our staff, and this new measure aims to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
It’s been a whirlwind of a term so far. I had the pleasure to visit the AFL MAX overnight camp with Rooms 3, 4 and 5. Thank you to the staff who supervised and to the students who demonstrated our values of Respect, Responsibility and Effort whilst away.
The students had a great time and developed their leadership skills.
The year 6/7’s attended their annual Aquatics Day at West lakes and our students have been busy learning their routines for the Footsteps Showcase. The prizes for the Colour Run have been ordered and we will be in touch with students when they arrive. Again, thank you to everyone who supported us with this fundraiser. We raised over $21,000.
Last week we acknowledged the end of WW1 with a school assembly. Thank you to the Young Leaders who coordinated the service at school.
Class Placements 2022
We are now completed our class placement process and are finalising staffing for 2022.
It may take several weeks until the staffing side of things is finalised but we hope to be able to send out all this information in the last week of school.
Reception Transition Visits
Our new Receptions for 2022 have now had two visits to the school and the feedback and observations have been excellent.
Our Year 4 mentors have done an outstanding job in supporting our new students.
It has been wonderful to see the efforts that they have put in and the positive relationships that they have already formed.
The final visit is planned for next Tuesday.
End of Year Event
Our Footsteps Showcase will occur on Tuesday 30th November starting at 6pm under the COLA. We do need to meet COVID-19 guidelines and will be asking that only 2 adult family members attend. 2 tickets will be issued per family and QR check-ins will be required at the gates. We will be asking families to socially distance and wear masks whilst on the school grounds. This is our first step back to normal school functions on our grounds. However, it will look a bit different to previous concerts. We won’t be hosting the traditional BBQ, so families will need to bring a picnic or eat before the event. Thank you for your support. Please note, this is subject to change in directions from the Government.
