Dear Families,
Welcome back to our Years 3-6 students. I am very proud of the way in which the children have settled back into school life. It’s so good to see the friendly and smiling faces (many behind masks). We spent much of this week setting up class routines and expectations.
It continues to be a disruptive start to the year. We expect that there will be more to come with regard to COVID-19 impacting on our community, however we are becoming more and more flexible and adaptable to the way we handle it.
Learning at Home
If your child can’t attend school face-to-face, you can encourage them to use the suite of lessons on Our Learning SA to learn at home. Reception to year 6 students can access a minimum of 3 lessons each day.
Webex Acquaintance Night
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we will be hosting our Acquaintance Night via Webex.
This is an opportunity for parents and caregivers to meet their child’s classroom teacher via a Webex meeting.
Staff members will send an invitation and link via Seesaw. Parents will have the opportunity to arrange appointments with teachers at a later stage, should it be required.
Teachers will communicate expectations and routines.
Webex Links will also be available for other specialist teachers should you wish to meet them.
These include: PE- Cameron Staker, Indonesian- Karen Butcher and Technologies- Patrick Fisher. Helen Biar will send through information about her role and contact availability.
Meetings will be staggered throughout the evening so that families can meet various teachers. This will allow for parents who have more than one child at school the opportunity to meet each teacher.
Session 1: 6.00pm - 6.30pm - ARC, Reception & Year 1 classes, Year 5/6 classes, Specialist Teachers
Session 2: 6:30pm – 7:00pm - Year 2 & Year 3 classes, Year 4/5 classes, Specialist Teachers
Year 5/6 Leadership Roles
This year we have continued with our leadership roles for our year 5 & 6 students. The Le Fevre Peninsula PS Young Leaders Program has been expanded to enable the students to apply for positions such as Canteen Monitors, Resource Centre Officers, Student Mentors, Student Voice Executive & Public Relations Officers. Applications will include addressing the job criteria as well as the option of providing referee statements.
Our Young Leaders Executive is one of our most important roles in the school. We are committed to having a strong representation from our students and empower them in decision making within the school.
All leadership applications will be due by Friday 25th February.
Visitors to School
It is very important that if you are collecting your child early or coming into school at a time that is not the beginning or end of a day, that you enter through the Front Office and sign in. Children who need to leave early will be sent to the Front Office.
Thank you for your co-operation.
