Youth Leader's Conference

On Monday 3rd March the Parliament Ministers went to the Convention Centre with Mrs. Demasi and Ms Leah to the 'Dream and Lead Conference'. It is a one-day, highly engaging event designed to support primary school students in discovering their leadership potential, whilst providing them with strong foundations to succeed. Throughout the day, students participated in purposeful activities developing their problem-solving skills and increasing confidence and independence.

In the first session we heard from Amber who is the 2025 Young Australia of the Year. Amber founded the South Australia Youth Forum at the age of 17. We heard about her experiences in becoming a leader and her message was leadership is more than just a badge it’s something from within.

The second session we heard from the founder of Youth Leadership Academy Australia, Wil Massara. We completed an activity using a 4 steps framework to help solve an issue within our school. A takeaway from Wil’s presentation was “Our age does not determine our ability to achieve extraordinary things”

In the third session we heard from Nathan Strempel. He is a dynamic and engaging speaker who has spent over a decade equipping more than 50,000 students with the tools and insights needed to enhance their wellbeing and resilience. One takeaway from Nathan was it takes 5 seconds for your brain to convince your heart to change your decision.

“It was very inspiring and fun to learn about leadership skills” - Ivy & Olivia.

“It was inspirational to see what we can do as leaders to make a change at our school”- Patrick, Dylan & Bradley.

“Leadership is not a word, it’s a habit”- Tyler.
