Room 20 Learning
Meet our new class pets - the leafy stick insects!
On her last trip back to Victoria, Miss Bowe brought back 7 of these interesting creatures for us to keep in our classroom.
These fascinating critters are becoming the talk of the school with many classes getting to have a hold of them during their library times.
Not only are they cool to hold, they're also very interesting to look at - they really do look like dead leaves! In our science unit, "Life's Needy", we are learning all about adaptations of animals and plants and what they need from their environments to survive. Leafy stick insects belong to the well-camouflaged group of insects called phasmids.
We are looking forward to learning more about our mini-beasts as they grow and reproduce!
Ps. They've already laid many eggs - Eekk!
