Dear Parents and Caregivers,
We are holding the School Fun Run’s Crazy Colour Day as a major fundraising event this year! The event will be held on Friday 29th October (Term 4, Week 3). We are really hoping to raise $20,000 which will pay for the installation of the new playground.
Keep your eyes peeled for the sponsorship forms which will be sent home with your child. Once you have the form, you should sign up for a Student Profile Page at schoolfunrun.com.au You’ll be able to access online fundraising and can win a $20,000 Ultimate Family Package!
Students who raise $10 or more will receive a reward, and the more money you raise the better the reward and the more you help the school!
All students will participate in what will be a fun filled day!
If you have any questions about the Crazy Colour Day please contact the School Fun Run Office on 1800 FUN RUN.

As an incentive, we will provide a pizza party on Friday 24th September for the class which creates the most profiles (on average) online before Thursday (23rd September).
2022 Classes
At the moment we are beginning to look at numbers of students for 2022 so that we can begin the class placement process. It would help our planning if you know of any changes for next year (eg if you are moving etc and not planning on returning to Le Fevre Peninsula Primary School) if you could let the Front Office know as soon as possible.
Also, if you know of any families considering enrolling at Le Fevre Peninsula Primary School for next year, could you please let them know to contact us at their earliest convenience.
Finally, if you have any specific requests for the placement of your child, (friendships etc) please put them in writing to me using the note recently sent home by no later than Friday 24th September
Please note that while requests are taken into consideration, there are no guarantees that they can be acted upon.
Thank you for your support.
Sports Day
Congratulations to the Yellow team on winning our Sports Day.
Thank you to all of the team captains who did an amazing job organising the team chants and the warm up routines.
It was great to see a traditional sports day for our school. The students were fantastic all day. Hopefully we can have parents attend next year.
Thanks to Mr Staker, Mr Fisher and the Sports day committee who coordinated the event. Thanks to the teachers, SSO’s and OHSC staff who supervised and made the day so successful.
Room 19 and 22 AFL MAX Camp
Room 19 and 22 are getting excited about their camp this week. We have approximately 40 students attending the sleep over at AFL MAX. Mr Ramsey, Ms Searle, Mr Staker, Miss Leaney and Mr Fisher are excited about attending camp and participating in the activities. It should be great!
Bikes
We have a small number of reconditioned bikes stored in our shed. We would like to offer them to families who would appreciate them. If you are interested, please contact myself or Leah. First in, first served.
Attendance Award
Congratulations to our year 4 student Caspar from Room 3 on winning our 100% attendance award for weeks 1-9. Caspar is the lucky winner of a Boost Juice voucher.
Last Day of Term
With the end of term rapidly approaching, a reminder that we finish at 2.00pm on Friday 24th September.
Term 4 will resume on Monday 11th October.
Kind Regards,
Bob Bowden
6/7 Girls Knockout Soccer
This term the year 6/7 girl’s knockout soccer team continued in their competition. After beating Ingle Farm 5-1 in round 1, they played Willunga Waldorf school in round 2 and won 1-0. They then travelled to Hahndorf to play Mt. Barker Waldorf and lost 1-0 in the Semi-final. The girls played exceptionally well and showed excellent teamwork and individual skill.
Cross Country
On Tuesday, the SAPSASA cross country championships were held. With almost 500 students competing it was the biggest the event has ever been. Many students had been training regularly with Mr. Staker before school to prepare themselves for the race. Everyone competed really well and had strong results. Several individuals made the top 4 to earn ribbons, with a couple qualifying for the finals at Oakbank next year. Well done to the group of 35 students that raced on the day.
AFL Crows Cup
On Wednesday, a group of year 5/6/7 girls travelled to Woodville West Torrens football ground to compete in a 9 a-side football carnival. They played 5 games across the day with 1 final. Well done to our team, they lost 1 game all day and finished 3rd overall.
SAPSASA
Congratulations to Aaliyah F and Asha G who have been selected in the Port District SAPSASA girls football team.
The state carnival will be held 18th – 20th October.
It’s fantastic to see our students in school uniform, in particular our school shirts and jumpers.
However, it has come our attention that a number of students are not complying with the Le Fevre Peninsula Primary School Dress Code/Policy regarding the colour of shorts/pants.
The dress code identifies that students should wear navy blue pants/shorts etc.
Denim or black pants/shorts/leggings etc. are not permitted to be worn.
Staff are currently reviewing the “Dress Code”.
Hi to all our school community!
Yay… for the warmer weather.
Our Young Leaders are hosting two different clubs on Monday and Tuesday now, and plans are ‘a foot’ to see what they may offer in Term 4.
I am now working with every Junior Primary Class with 'What’s the Buzz?' SEL program. Topics recently have been 'how to manage big emotions,' 'how to ask for help' and importantly 'how to let the grown-ups help you' if you need it!
As the date for this year’s Children’s University hour collection is drawing close, there has been a hive of activity to see who could possibly Graduate. We now have 12-15 students on track to graduate with Children’s Uni with the Bronze Award and 3-5 who might even make it to Silver!
What a fantastic effort!
Room 15 with Miss Zuanic and I are piloting a trial on a new communication tool for our students. The concept is that when it is hard to find our words to express how we are feeling and how well we are engaging with our learning tasks, we now have a coloured wristband to help us identify where we are at. It is based on the 'Zones of Regulation' model and/or the '5 Point Scale' that some of you may be aware of. It is whole class based and students and teachers use it alike. We will keep you updated on how it goes….
Something to ruminate on;

The willingness to learn is a choice.' Brian Herbert

Our school now has green bins in the yard for uneaten fruit and scraps at risk from fruit fly. We are in a fruit fly red outbreak area and fruit and vegetables at risk from fruit fly should not be removed from our site. It’s important everyone uses these bins so that we can safely dispose of scraps. There are signs attached to help you identify them.
Fruit fly lay their eggs in certain fruit and vegetables. If the eggs grow into maggots and are able to burrow into the ground, they will become flies. By using green bins (that are commercially composted), we can stop fruit flies in their tracks and break the life cycle.
We all need to play our part to protect South Australia from fruit fly - the impact of fruit fly is in your hands.
Over the past few weeks, Rooms 17 and 18 have been exploring elements of print in art. The students received a piece of lino where they sketched a simple, yet effective design on the soft side. They then used professional carving tools to create cut outs on their pencil outline. This required a range of differently shaped tools, safe technique and lots of elbow grease. Once they had ensured their cut outs were deep enough, they applied paint to the print and carefully stamped it onto A3 art paper. The students learnt that the perfect amount of paint was needed for the perfect print, not too much, not too little. They also discovered that using a sponge roller worked much better than a traditional paint brush. This was an interesting task that allowed for exploration, trial and error and creative expression. Here are some of our final prints.
Well the soccer season for 2021 has now finished! I would like to thank our incredible coaches, Peta Jones, Tom Liggins and Brad Page who have coached our teams this year in what has been a somewhat challenging year with covid. The season has had some ups and downs but our players have loved every minute of it. We were very lucky earlier in the season to have Jordan Elsey from Adelaide United come out to training and have a kick with the students, which they absolutely loved. Now that the season is over, we ask that all soccer tops are returned to the front office ready for next year.
Here are some thoughts from our players about their season:
“I had lots of fun playing soccer this year because we won lots of games. When we won we all cheered for each other.” Noman – Under 7
“I liked soccer because my mum coached our team. I liked kicking goals.” Aimee – Under 7
“I loved playing soccer this season because I got to play with all my friends.” Ryker – Under 9
“This year in soccer I tried my best at kicking goals.” Hikaru – Under 9
“This year I liked how we got to play lots of different teams. Even if they didn’t show good sportsmanship, I’m happy that our team always did.” Sarah – Under 11
“I think playing soccer this year was a great experience. It showed me how to develop great sportsmanship and new skills and knowledge.” Joshua – Under 11

Le Fevre Peninsula Primary School is a 'Sun-Smart' school committed to reducing the risk of skin cancer. All students are required to wear a school hat in Terms 1 and 4 for all outdoor activities including play times. The hats need to be either legionnaire hats or broad brimmed hats in order to provide adequate protection from the sun.
School hats can be purchased from the front office throughout week 10 of Term 3.
Enjoy the sunshine, have a run, have a walk, celebrate culture and fitness.
Running SA and the Port Adelaide Athletics Club will once again collaborate to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island culture through the Yartapuulti Fun Run.
Forming part of the Port Adelaide Athletics Club's Aboriginal Athletics Program, Yartapuulti will be held in Term 4 this year (October 21) - We would love to have as many families, school students and members of the public out there as possible.
This will be the third running of the event which has previously been called the Port Adelaide Deadly Fun Run.
The fun run/walk will start and finish at Hart’s Mill, Port Adelaide and follow the Port Loop Path.
More than 200 people attended each of the 2018 and 2019 events (which included dozens of schools), and after the 2020 Fun Run was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic we are hoping to make this year’s event even bigger than the first two.
In the past we have had participants choosing to walk with a group of friends, as well as those who ran with the intent to cross the line first - everyone has the choice to complete a 3km or 5km loop.
The aim of the Fun Run is to improve physical activity, encourage school attendance and academic performance and promote mental health and wellbeing.
We would love to see you out there!
We spoke to Aboriginal Training Squad coaches Tjimari Sanderson-Milera about the importance of the Yartapuulti Fun Run – read the story on https://www.athleticssa.com.au/news/yartapuulti-fun-run-/
