Dear Families,
Welcome back to the 2024 school year. I hope that you had the opportunity to spend quality time with your children, family and friends over the past 6 weeks.
We are looking forward to another very exciting year. It is important that we work in a partnership with you, the families. If you have any issues or concerns, please make contact with the classroom teacher in the first instance.
We look forward to a rewarding and fun year.
Striving for Success & Learning
During the first 2 weeks of school, teachers will be talking to the children about code of conduct, expectations and setting up safe and positive learning environments. This is an extremely important time as it will set the tone throughout the school and set the children up for success for the remainder of the year.
In 2024, our priorities will continue to be Reading, Numeracy and Well-being
SeeSaw Learning Journals
Throughout 2024, teachers will be using SeeSaw Learning Journals to support their ability to communicate with families and for students to be able to share their learning experiences at school. SeeSaw will enable families to feel more connected with what is happening in the school and in class.
You child will be bringing home a note with instructions with how to connect to SeeSaw.
The purpose of this app is to share classroom learning and news, it is not intended as a medium to discuss behaviours, learning, make appointments, report absences etc.
If you require a time to meet with the teacher to discuss your child’s progress, or have any questions that require clarification, this must be done through our normal communication channels, which includes:
- Front Office
- Diary
- School phone
Please note that teachers will generally only check emails between 8am and 4pm weekdays and as such, responses can take up to several days.
Mobile Phones and Devices
As a reminder, students need to keep mobile phones and other personal devices, like smart watches, off and away all day at school.
This helps to support a safe school environment, reduce disruptions during teaching and learning time, and encourage students to have some time 'offline’ each day for physical activity, play, and face-to-face connections.
Students may only use their personal device if they have received an exemption from the school.
Please contact the school office for assistance if you need to communicate with your child during school hours.
The school has implemented this policy in line with the State Government’s ban
Acquaintance Night
Our Acquaintance Night (5:30pm – 7pm) is on Tuesday 20th February (Week 4). Information on Acquaintance Night will follow shortly.
The Acquaintance night gives families the opportunity to formally meet the class teacher as well as gain an insight into teacher expectations and classroom practices. If you need to meet with the classroom teacher prior to the acquaintance night, please feel free to make an appointment.
Assemblies / Newsletters
This year, assemblies will occur every 3 weeks on Fridays. This year, assemblies and newsletters will occur in Weeks 4 & 7 with a final assembly on the last day of each term.
COVID 19 Information
We can all help stop the spread.
- If you or your child have symptoms (even if mild), get tested and self-isolate
- If your child is unwell, please stay home
- Practise good hygiene

District Athletics Day – Year 4/5 Arbury Park Camp Clash
Unfortunately a clash of dates has occurred for those involved in the year 4/5 camp and the students selected for District Athletics. As a result of a late minute change of dates for the State SAPSASA Softball Championships due to the AFL Gather Round, the District Athletics Day date was required to be changed. This is unfortunate for our school but has been unavoidable. Obviously there will be a number of students who are impacted by this. Please feel free to chat to Amanda Nelson.
Regards,
Bob
