We have kept our hands and minds busy with space themed play trays, activities, challenges and art works. We have delved into a range of fiction and non fiction texts about planets, astronauts and a cow showing great persistence trying to jump over the moon! We have watched videos of the International Space Station and what it is like to be orbiting Earth for around 6 months. Did you know astronauts have to exercise for at least 2 hours per day while on the ISS? This is to make sure their muscles, bones and organs stay strong while floating in zero gravity. It's safe to say, not many of us were too keen to go up there for that long.
Room 8 made air propelled rockets using a cardboard rocket, a straw, half of a plastic pipette and some tape. We then used our biggest puff of air to blow through the straw and watch the rocket launch.
We have only just begun the term so we cannot wait to see what we will explore and find out during the remaining weeks we have left.
